Harvest and Craft Faire.

November 15, 2010

Weekend before last, we went to the annual Harvest and Craft Faire at C-Man and JuJu's school. It is one of my favorite events. So refreshingly old-fashioned.

At the welcome desk, we were greeted with a cup a freshly-pressed apple cider (made from apples donated from a local farm) and each child is given a sweet little package of seeds (harvested from the school garden and packaged by the third and sixth grade classes).

There were also these cute little handmade necklaces for the children to wear. (And yes, those are little freaking gourds!)

{i like these so much i've been wearing one around town!}
There was lots of good homemade food.....chili (vegetarian, natch, and a version with grassfed beef, also natch), cornbread, burritos, quesadillas, good fair-trade coffee and tons and tons of cookies, bars, pies and cakes.

{oatmeal raisin cookie}
There was a highly-anticipated puppet show performed by two of C-Man's teachers.
{buddies in line, waiting for the show to start}
There were booths set up with crafts, activities and demonstrations. Here is C-Man checking in on the blacksmith demonstration.

{intensity and focus}
There was time to play games on the field (a favorite was a tug-of-war between the kids and adults).
{juju deciding whether she wants to join in on the boys' game}
And of course, bebe was there, taking it all in. Have I mentioned she is walking?!

{sweetness}
{hay, droopy drawers}
{vegetarian chili}

  10. Jen...yes, it's open to the community. you should come next year!

    And re: the bonnet. It's part of a dress and bloomer ensemble that I scored off Gilt awhile back. I think the brand is Marie Chantal?
